Samurai Helmet Beetle

Samurai Helmet Beetle: designed by Robert J Lang, folded from 21cm Tuttle Publishing patterned paper. Final models ~7cm long.

Samurai Helmet Beetle: designed by Robert J Lang, folded from 34.5cm paper. Final model ~13cm long.

This model is my new favourite from Insects; while challenging to fold, it is quite a cute beetle*! (Your milage may, of course, vary!) And it’s another model where a large proportion of the Google image search results are of origami rather than of the actual subject. I’m not sure why but that does make me happy.

*Which reminds me of the (possibly apocryphal) JBS Haldane quote about the creator’s supposed “inordinate fondness for beetles”.
